Ifamily For Mac Review

IFamily for Mac. Manufacturer: Keith Wilson. Biggest draws: Source documentation, numerous viewing options, gadgets. Drawbacks: Limited help section; lacks features to privatize data, create Web pages and record conflicting information. Manufacturer: BSD Concept. Biggest draws: Nifty graphics, 3-D family tree. IFamily for Mac is an excellent genealogy program developed by Keith Wilson in Australia. As Keith wrote on the program's web site, the program 'is a family tree program with a difference because Apple users think differently'. Unlike most other Macintosh genealogy programs, iFamily for Leopard focuses on individuals, not couples.

Ifamily For Mac Reviews

I am switching over from the 'dark side' to my first iMac, and need some advice re: genealogy software. On my PC I have an old version of Family Tree for Windows. From my limited research on the web, I have come across 3 programs for the mac. These are the latest versions of Reunion, MacFamilyTree, and iFamily. Again from my limited resaerch, it looks like Reunion, while very popular, the seems a bit 'old', iFamily is a bit 'off-beat', while MacFamilyTree seems in tune with the rest of the Mac approach. These are just my cursory observations gleaned from what the respective websites convey.
What would you recommend I get? Any personal experience with any of these?
Thanks,
Kevin

  1. IFamily for Mac is a genealogy program for people who think differently. Whereas other genealogy software tends to emphasize the family unit, this software’s focus is on each individual person. This distinction is subtle and is a feature of iFamily for Mac.

Mac Cosmetics Review

A program for Mac that stresses the individual more than the family unit which gives it certain advantages. Specializes in handling images. Previous versions of the program were called iFamily for Leopard and iFamily for Tiger.
